Strawberry Short Cake: A Quick, Tasty, and Easy Dessert

party, cool, ,

When we are preparing for our party and cannot decide on a dessert to serve, we should consider making a Strawberry Short Cake. As with many things, we tend to fall into making the same old flavored cake or the family favorite without venturing to try anything new. This dessert is so easy to make and tasty that it might just become your new favorite, especially if you run on a short timeline.

This often forgotten favorite is very simple. Purchase or make some biscuits that have a sweet or buttery flavor to them. These can be prepackaged, frozen, cooked or uncooked, whatever you find to fit your budget, timescale and liking. Purchase or make the strawberry dressing that you will use between the biscuits. This can be made with fresh berries or, most popularly, frozen or canned pie filling. Be sure if you are planning to use the frozen variety that you schedule enough time to thaw the filling before it needs to be served. The last ingredient that you need is the cool whip. This also needs to remain cool but works best when it has been softened. Leaving these two items in the refrigerator is usually a fool proof way to ensure that they will stay cool and be ready for use when you need them.

Putting them together is the easiest part to this recipe yet. Cutting a biscuit in half and layering some cool whip, followed by some pie filling, and again some cool whip will allow the biscuits to remain unsaturated. Next you place the biscuits lid on top, smother it with more cool whip and pie filling and you have just completed your dessert. To make this recipe more time efficient, you can display the makings in a buffet style and allow your guests to help themselves. Now you really have it made easy. Bet you’ll use it more than once.
